Great News!

It's finally going to happen! The first state wide survey of dietitians and use of PDAs has been accepted for publication by the Journal of Allied Health. The title is: Use of Personal Digital Assistants Among Dietitians and Dietetic Students in Oklahoma: Should Programs Incorporate PDA Training into their Curricula? More details will be posted when they become available.

Nutrition Informatics Survey

Interested in helping ADA move forward into the area of Nutrition Informatics? If so, I encourage you to complete the survey that has just been sent to EVERY ADA member. The link to the survey is: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=l8DCukUCN0_2bix2JbaIAMag_3d_3d

And please, don't feel like you don't know enough about Nutrition Informatics. The survey is designed to be a baseline of where we are today so we know where we need to go tomorrow. Your answers are important.

Remember, it is up to each and every one of us to help ADA move in the direction we think they should go. Providing them with valuable information is a step in the right direction.

Thank you for your time.

Technology at FNCE

It just keeps getting better and better! Each year at ADA's Food & Nutrition Conference and Expo, there are opportunities to learn about how technology impacts the dietetics profession. If you were lucky enough (as Peggy and I were) to attend the show in Philly this year, you would have had many choices. From the opening session on embracing change (technology is part of that change, of course), to open discussions on Electronic Health Records and a Nutrition Informatics DPG, to the fantastic lecture "Thriving in a Virtual Business Landscape," to the dozens of high-tech products and services shown at Product Marketplace and the Exhibits... there was something for everyone. PDAs, of course, were everywhere, as was a buzz about their use in dietetics and healthcare.

I, for one, will be tuning in to see what happens. If you would like to read more, here's the link: http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=13371
