Long Term Care Page

Dietitians working in the LTC field have special needs and challenges, and a PDA can get you organized, save time, improve productivity, and provide a wealth of information! Here are a few tips for LTC dietitians.

Use your PDA to:
  • track patients in your facility and among different facilities.
  • calculate calorie needs, tube feedings, lab conversions, and more.
  • look up food and medication interactions on your PDA in an instant (leave that bulky book behind!).
  • record patient information that will eventually be sent back to a larger program on your main computer (such as DietBook).
  • keep track of monthly weights.
  • keep track of quarterly assessments.
  • keep track of inservices -- both future and past.
  • be able to access all of your contracts at your fingertips.
  • keep track of the hours you spend at each facility.
  • list, refer to, and keep track of all your recommendations for immediate follow-up.
  • keep track of all your expenses for tax purposes.
  • jot down notes before you forget important information.
